My Recent Reads

If you’ve been reading my posts for any length of time, chances are you already know I LOVE to READ! I also love discussing books I’ve read. So here’s a few books I’ve read recently and LOVED!!! I have recently hit a book jackpot or so it seems.

A Breath of Snow and Ashes (Outlander)

So 2018 has been the year of Karlee being addicted to the Outlander series by Diana Galbaldon. These are big books that you won’t be able to put down. It’s historical fiction that will have you emotionally attached to characters. A Breath of Snow and Ashes was the 6th book in this series and I’ll go ahead and tell ya I’m dreading the day I’ve completed the entire series. WHAT. WILL. I. DO. WITH. LIFE??

Before We Were Yours

Wow, this one was good! Before We Were Yours  by Lisa Wingate is another amazing historical fiction. I was mid book and called my Nonna to let her know to add this book to her MUST READ LIST! My Nonna is from Memphis, Tennessee and part of the setting of this book is in Memphis 1930’s.. That’s before Nonna’s time but I still thought she would think it was interesting. Before We Were Yours will pull your heartstrings, y’all.

The Last Time I Lied

I really like a good phycological thriller that will keep you guessing. The Last Time I Lied by Riley Sager was my Summer beach read.. Ha, a little dark for a beach read but I enjoyed it nonetheless. This novel had me guessing until the end!

Girl Wash Your Face

This was my other beach read! Girl Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis is absolutely life changing. I found this book to be really motivational. Especially as an entrepreneur, it gave me a nice little motivational kick. Seconds after finishing this book, I jumped on Amazon  and ordered it for my sister.

Alright, those are some of my recent reads that I actually enjoyed!! If you’ve read any of these, I’d love to hear your thoughts!

My Recent Reads

Heyyy! One of my many passions is reading. I love books. I also enjoy discussing books. I also ALSO love seeing what other people are reading. (That way I don’t walk into Books-A-Million or browse Amazon aimlessly when needing a new read)

So, I want to share what I’m currently reading.

Last night I finished The Fiery Cross. It’s the 5th book in the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. Each book in this series has been amazing and I can’t wait to to begin A Breath of Snow and Ashes.

The Magnolia Journal

The Magnolia Journal is nearly always a current read for me because I read it cover to cover each season. So many great tips for enjoying family, food and life.

Sometimes I Lie

Just finished this thriller called Sometimes I Lie by Alice Feeney a few days ago. It was really good with some interesting plot twists!!

Something in the Water

Within the next day or two, I’ll finish Something in the Water by Catherine Steadman. I’m ver intrigued by this couple. So far it’s been really great and I can’t wait to see how it ends… I’ve been guessing..

Okay, so those are my current reads. I so hope all the readers enjoyed this post. Comment below if you’ve read any of these! I would love to know what you think!

Week Vibes

We had such a wonderful week. My little sister Kelbee came to Auburn to spend a few days at our house. We very much enjoy when she’s at our house because she brings a balance to our crazy schedule. For example, 9pm dinners are no longer acceptable when a 10 year old is around.

To read a more about Kelbee’s visit click here to check out Nighttime Prayers.

Other small highlights this week

• I’ve been reading the Outlander book series by Diana Gabaldon since January. I finished book #4 this week and it was Ahhhhmazing!

• I took Tuesday off! It’s extremely rare for me to take a day off.. other than an occasional Sunday. I wanted to spend time with Kelbee so I took the whole day off on Tuesday.

• I realized my 10 year old little sister knows more about make up than me! Ever heard of Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lips?? Kelbee got me to try this awesome new lipstick and it stays on for hours. Love it!! Click here to learn more.

• We bought plants! Last weekend Aaron and I bought some plants for our side porch off the kitchen. We got lots of herbs, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers and a hanging basket of strawberries.

• As far as the booth business goes, we had a few slower days this week. However, on Friday night it picked up. I was working in my booth and was able to make the sale of 6 larger pieces within a 2 hour span.

• Favorite casual black slides sandals are on sell for $11.21 right now. So time to grab some!!

I have another special post about decorating with pots coming up soon so stay tuned & have a happy weekend!

Friday Favorites!

Happy Friday, Friends!! Can you believe the weekend is here? 🙌🏻 Our weekend will consist of picking junk, eating good food, working on the chicken coop and beginning the layout of my booth expansion! (I’m sure you’ll be seeing post about the chicken coop and booth expansion soon.) 😉

Since it’s Friday, it’s time for me to share a few of my favorite things! 🤗 Let’s talk about a book, olives and a bread box. Friday Favorite combos are always so random!!

I’m intensely missing the beach right now. 🏊🏼‍♀️ Truly, Madly, Guilty by Liane Moriarty  was my beach read last year. It was GREAT! I literally read the entire book by the water! 🌊 I highly recommend it as an easy Summer vacation read! Also, Liane Moriarty is the author of many other incredible books such as The Husband’s Secret.

Don’t laugh. 😂 I know it’s random but these Blue Cheese Stuffed Olives are no doubt my favorite food right now. They make the perfect appetizer and you can order them on Amazon! 👍🏻

I love my Black and White Enamel Bread Box.😍 It’s sorta an investment but I’ve seen it look awesome in several different kitchens. It’s probably my favorite kitchen piece. Yes, an entire loaf of bread fits in this box. Also, this Canister Set matches and it’s very reasonably priced. I absolutely love it all!!

Alright, Friends! There you have it! That’s my Friday Favorites for this week. Hope your weekend is amazing! 😘

The Twilight Wife

It’s been a minute since I wrote a book review. These days I typically stick with blogs about home decor, DIY projects or random post about being a picker.

However, I randomly picked up a book at Target 😉 (yep, my second favorite to Amazon store) and it just so happened to be GREAT! If you’re a reader like me, you know this occasion is rare. My time for reading is spare so I typically make sure a book is worthwhile before diving in head first! (Or Should I say nose first?!?👃🏻🤓 ) I made a good choice.

The Twilight Wife by A.J. Banner is amazing! If time would have allowed, I could have read the entire book in an afternoon. This fictional story is absolutely gripping!😱

So without spoiling the story I’ll give you a quick overview of what it’s about! The story is centered around a 34 year old lady named Kyra Winthrop. Kyra had a diving accident and lost part of her memory. She attempts to uncover her memory and the outcome is shocking.

This book was my first read by A.J. Banner; however, I just learned she has another book called The Good Neighbor which I will be ordering soon!!

If you’re looking for a good quick psychological thriller, The Twilight Wife is the book for you! 👍🏻

Inspiring Home Books You Need to Order

These three books helped me so much on my decor/design journey. If you’re needing home inspiration, these are your books to order. 😄 👍🏻 I’ve chosen this selection of books because they’ve either explained, taught or inspired me and I think they’ll do the same for you!

If you have one and not the others, well here’s you a little late Spring read! I hope they inspire you the same way they inspired me!

Simple Decorating

This book is small but powerful! Simple Decorating has 50 tips any home could use. You will learn so much! It goes from how to select curtains to a list of items every home needs. If you’re a homemaker, I strongly suggest you order this $10.47 book from Amazon.

Simple Decorating is all about making you and your family feel comfortable at home. Despite my family being a small family of two, I want our home to share our story and be comfortable. 👫 😍 Simple Decorating explains how to do that and so much more!

A Touch of Farmhouse Charm

This is my go to book. It is the farmhouse style DIY encyclopedia. A Touch of Farmhouse Charm has small projects you can whip out in 30 minutes as well as larger projects. The Author, Liz Fourez, gives an estimate of the time each project will take and so far she’s been right on each one I’ve tried! 😉

I did several of these DIY projects at the end of last year and 5 months later I still find myself flipping through this book looking for more!! A Touch of Farmhouse Charm is great for those of us on a budget! 🤑  Okay,  I would talk about this book forever… moving on!!

The Magnolia Story
So much about the The Magnolia Story spoke to me. No doubt, Joanna has a relationship with God.

Alright time to get personal –  I read this book during the fall of last year. I was in a rut personally. 🤦🏼‍♀️ I was frustrated with our home (that’s a complete blog for another day) and I was discouraged with my at the time very, very, very small vintage booth, Classic. 😩 Something about The The Magnolia Story spoke to me to be happy where I am at the moment and enjoy the journey.

Even today when I feel myself becoming frustrated (it’s not always easy being married to an entrepreneur 😳 😏), I think back to the The Magnolia Story and remember to enjoy the journey.

This book is rich with inspiration. No doubt, you will walk away inspired to keep pushing and trust God no matter where you are in life.

These books are all very different from one another but each one is so good!! I truly encourage you to read these even if you just start with one and work your way through the list!
