6 of my Favorite Plants for Outside

Over the past two years I have realized deep down I’m a plant girl. I still don’t know all the plant things, but I’m learning. If it has anything to do with nature… bring it on! It’s what makes me the most happy. Here’s a list of my favorite outdoor plants right now!  Knock Out Roses – how gorgeous are these?! The color has to be my favorite part, and they’re so fitting for summertime. These bloom continuously from spring until frost, so they’re the perfect plant for growing almost all year round. These would be so pretty paired with spring and summer decor in the sun!  Endless Summer Hydrangeas – I…

    I painted our Mantel BLACK

BE BOLD Yes, I painted our mantel black!! Honestly, I had no idea if I would love it or not. However, I love it indeed! We did already have touches of black in our house. The treads on our staircase are painted black, and we have a beautiful old black cabinet in our dining room. But still… painting this mantel felt SO BRAVE!  What Makes Black So Good? Don’t get me wrong, I’m a huge fan of white on white on white, and I will be always and forever! But this pop of black added a touch of richness to the space that white just couldn’t do. Suddenly, the fireplace…

    Summer Tablescape

Tablescapes are one of my favorite ways to be creative! They can be so fun and pretty! I especially love summertime table decor. All the colors and fresh fruit make for such lovely space.  Layering is KEY Every table needs LAYERS! I used this beautiful gauze runner that I dyed last fall as my top layer. Next I added some Classic Pink Caladium plants that I bought from a local nursery. I repotted them in a terra cotta bowl. The terra cotta color mixed with the colors of the caladium plant gives a nice bang. The PINK is perfect for dressing up a summertime table. Best part about this centerpiece? The plants can be enjoyed long after…

    Our Garden

2020 has been a challenging year for so many. But I can say one good thing came out of it! Our sweet garden. This is my first real garden. Last year, I started with some herbs and hydrangeas and that really built my confidence. This year I went with a full on vegetable garden and lots of flowers. Aaron built us some raised beds (Click HERE to see how you can build some raised beds too!) We had lots of time at home and I had a new hobby and he had a design for the whole space.  In the early days of planning our garden, I asked Aaron “where…

What to look for at Yard Sales and Junk Stores Right Now

It’s that time of year when the air is warm and yard sales are happening. It’s one of the most wonderful times of the season. Honestly, I like to make a day of my yard sale adventures and hit up all of the “junk” shops after pumping my breaks at each yard sale in town. Right now, these are the items I’m looking for at yard sales and junk shops!  Watering Cans  You’ll likely notice a trend with this post, my mind is on outdoor items. Vintage watering cans are one of my favorite finds, but sometimes they are hard to find so you’ve got to hunt! It seems I…

    We Bought a Stock Tank

That’s right! We went for it and invested in our own stock tank for a swimming pool! One day we definitely want an in-ground swimming pool, but this will do for now. We really wanted something to enjoy this summer, so we took the plunge! Details The tank can hold up to 700 gallons, and it’s 8 ft wide + 2ft deep. Only about $400 from Tractor Supply! I feel like we’re going to live in it on the hot days, so the price was totally worth it to us. We also bought a filter for it, but it hasn’t come in quite yet. I’ll keep you posted on the filter details.…

    Compost Inspired Centerpiece

How beautiful is this centerpiece?! This is one of my favorite DIY projects to date inspired by Martha Stewart’s compost pile. She cleaned her garden and combined her clippings into an old basket. It was such a simple to-do since I used what I already had at my home! The only item I purchased for this project were these stems from Target that added a bit more detail. Decor Made Easy: If you know me, you know I am a big fan of keeping things simple, budget-friendly and full of nature! That’s exactly what this project consisted of. A little bit of new, a little bit of used, and a whole lot of nature…

    Shop My Deck

Outdoor spaces are one of my favorites to shop for and decorate. They’re also my VERY FAVORITE to enjoy this time of year. After recently painting our deck ( you can read more about that here ) I thought it would be a good idea to write a blog post linking all of our deck decor! Some of these items are a splurge while others (like the LED outdoor solar light fixture) gave a nice BANG for my buck! Alright, here’s the items and links for our deck decor! As always, these items are affiliate links. Thank you so much for shopping through my links!!

    Painting the Deck

I painted our deck! I had a lot of questions on how I did it, and let me tell you, it was simple! So, I figured I would round up everything in a blog post. It’s absolutely amazing the difference this afternoon project made. Type of paint I used a paint called Advanced Deckover by Behr. When purchasing this paint you’ll find it comes in different textured finishes. I chose smooth. Color There were lots of beautiful color options. This time I picked Rose Beige. It’s the perfect rosey neutral! Never be afraid of paint colors! It’s just paint! How I painted You might be surprised when I tell ya,…
